Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Sleep is the First Productivity
Shuangyun brought the gift she'd prepared for Cheng Lang from upstairs.
Pushing open Cheng Lang's apartment door, she saw him sitting alone in a dining chair.
Seeing her, Cheng Lang immediately stood up.
Hugged Shuangyun.
Shuangyun didn't move, discerning the meaning of Cheng Lang's embrace.
Steve's friend had forwarded her a WeChat message, saying he'd heard Steve speaking into his phone to someone, his voice very agitated, and the content was about her.
Shuangyun thought, perhaps he'd added Cheng Lang's WeChat.
Why not tell him directly? Still didn't have the courage after all.
What about Cheng Lang? How would he react?
Shuangyun thought, the gift she'd prepared still had to be given to him no matter what.
"I thought you'd left." Cheng Lang still held her tightly.
Shuangyun forced a light laugh and raised the envelope in her hand: "I went upstairs to get the gift for you. I didn't want you to find it before, so I kept it upstairs."
Cheng Lang didn't let go of her.
Shuangyun shrugged and said: "Don't you want to see?"
Only then did Cheng Lang withdraw his hand.
Shuangyun placed the white envelope on the dining table and said you open it.
Cheng Lang opened it. Inside was an order confirmation letter for a new Lexus SUV.
"I know you can afford it yourself," Shuangyun said, "but I thought about it, and I still want to order one for you in New York. When I'm not there, it will keep you company more. Teacher Cheng."
Cheng Lang restrained his breathing and all physical reactions. He thought of Shuangyun's WeChat Moments that had disappeared for him, thought of her saying her life wasn't in New York, thought of her saying she wasn't used to long-distance relationships, thought of what she was saying now—the car would keep him company for her.
"I do have selfish motives," Shuangyun admitted frankly. "The car I'm buying you will definitely make you think of me. But there's no way around it. I want to do this right now. I don't want you to forget me too quickly."
"After living in New York for a while, perhaps you'll also see new life opportunities there." Cheng Lang held the paper, restraining his emotions and speaking calmly.
"You can't force me, Cheng Lang."
"I won't."
"Accept it, Teacher Cheng. Always go to the places you want to go in the future."
Shuangyun held Cheng Lang's hand, about to let go, but Cheng Lang held it back.
"I can't see your WeChat Moments anymore." Cheng Lang suddenly said.
"My WeChat Moments?" Shuangyun was stunned for a moment, then realized. "I deleted them all."
"You deleted them, or you blocked me?" Cheng Lang asked again.
"Did Steve tell you?" Shuangyun asked.
"His name is Steve?"
"Not important. Then you probably know everything." Shuangyun thought, perhaps today was their last day. Being honest with Cheng Lang was like a final bit of redemption for herself. He really was a very good person. "I don't like posting on WeChat Moments. Everything you saw was my ulterior motives."
"Then did you delete them, or did you block me?" Cheng Lang asked again.
"I deleted them. I didn't block you."
As Shuangyun spoke, she opened her phone and showed Cheng Lang her interface: completely empty. Then Shuangyun posted a WeChat Moment visible only to Cheng Lang: a red heart emoji.
"What does this mean?" Cheng Lang asked.
Shuangyun laughed: "I scared you just now. This is compensation."
