Chapter 37
Chapter 37
Sleep is the First Productivity
Shuangyun knew that one day he would ask this question.
She had of course thought about this question, but the answer came too simply.
"No."
What would she do in New York? She did have plans to fly to New York with Cheng Lang, but she only planned to stay there for a few weeks, as a trip.
There was no her life there, no her friends, no her career, no her life plans.
That was Cheng Lang's New York, not Shuangyun's.
"But I will fly with you to travel for a while."
Shuangyun added.
Cheng Lang was quiet for a long time, his mouth showing a smile as if to reassure her.
But he seemed very fragile, even though his words were still calm at this moment.
"Right, New York isn't in your plans."
New York not being in her plans was actually him not being in her plans.
"Does this make you very sad?" Shuangyun asked.
Cheng Lang didn't answer her, only asked: "Do you want to break up with me?"
"Why?"
Cheng Lang: "Because soon we'll be in a long-distance relationship."
Shuangyun didn't brush him off. She said: "I'm not sure, but it's possible. Because I've never experienced a long-distance relationship."
Cheng Lang knew.
She was someone who also had requirements for physical needs, and he couldn't satisfy her at all times.
The air was very quiet. So were both their breaths.
Shuangyun thought they would end here. But Cheng Lang said: "Then at least don't break up with me before I leave, okay? Shuangyun Liang."
Shuangyun was stunned for a moment, then laughed.
"I never said I wanted to break up with you now."
Cheng Lang nodded: "Shuangyun Liang, you have to keep your word."
He closed the computer and said he'd go cook.
The atmosphere naturally wasn't cheerful. Shuangyun actually also found it strange.
She'd already achieved her goal. Sleeping together a bit longer would of course be icing on the cake. And Cheng Lang would also leave in two months, giving her new freedom automatically.
But Shuangyun's mood wasn't as carefree and natural as she'd thought.
She would think of Cheng Lang's almost helpless smile, his eyes looking at her as if writing silent fragility.
He only asked her to keep her word.
The familiar sound of water came from the faucet. Cheng Lang's figure seemed to only ever stay in these few places.
Working at his desk, cooking in the kitchen.
He wasn't loud at all, always focused on doing his own things.
A deep green, a quiet forest, kaolin that was hard to penetrate.
During dinner, the two still conversed naturally. Cheng Lang didn't fall into any sadness. When seeing Shuangyun off, he also kissed her cheek.
Shuangyun rested at home for a few days. During this time, she didn't go to Cheng Lang's place for dinner again.
She was somewhat unsure of the boundaries and also not very certain of her current feelings. Better to each cool down for a few days first.
Every morning Shuangyun went to the bouldering gym to expend energy. In the afternoon, she went home to shower and sleep. She didn't run into Cheng Lang in the apartment elevator again. A subtle sense of loss rose in her heart. Was she actually waiting for Cheng Lang too?
Shuangyun wasn't clear about her feelings, only focusing more on exercise.
After who knows how many days, Shuangyun received a message from Cheng Lang: "Want to come down for dinner?"
After Shuangyun had said she wouldn't go to his place for dinner recently, Cheng Lang had sent the first dinner invitation.
Shuangyun's body wouldn't lie. Her fingers automatically typed quickly: "Coming."
The sound of closing the door was unusually light, like her footsteps walking down the hallway.
Pushing open Cheng Lang's apartment door, she saw his smiling face peeking from behind the island.
Shuangyun ran behind him and hugged Cheng Lang's waist.
Cheng Lang laughed, along with his body and Shuangyun's body.
"What are we eating today?" Shuangyun asked.
