Cheng Lang was quiet for a few seconds, then replied seriously: "I thought you wanted to use it as an excuse to hug me. Didn't you... hit on me before?"
Shuangyun laughed so hard she wanted to roll her eyes. "You thought I hugged you because I like you?"
"Yes."
"Would I do something that clumsy?"
Cheng Lang: "I don't know you very well yet."
Shuangyun burst out laughing on the quiet path. She was so speechless, he was so funny.
Shuangyun laughed until her shoulders shook, her body heating up again.
After a short path, the two soon reached the bright street with streetlights, entered the parking lot, and Cheng Lang opened the car door.
He drove a black Lexus. Shuangyun didn't know much about cars and didn't know what model it was.
Opening the door and sitting inside, the car was very clean, with no decorations at all.
Just like his apartment. And just like him.
Cheng Lang drove very steadily too, following traffic rules, quietly.
Shuangyun thought of Linwen Lu. He'd given her a ride once. Not to mention speeding, at every intersection he'd make the engine roar loudly, then be the first to rush out. Sports cars were already very flashy, but he had to make noise too.
Shuangyun had ridden once and never again, afraid she'd die in one of Linwen's car crashes.
Shuangyun sat in Cheng Lang's car. The car was also very quiet. She wasn't speaking now because she really felt somewhat unwell.
Shuangyun thought she might have caught a cold.
The Panadol Cheng Lang had just given her was still in her pocket. Shuangyun took it out and swallowed two pills.
Cheng Lang glanced at her, then turned back to look at the road.
After a little over ten minutes, the two quickly arrived at the apartment's underground parking lot.
Shuangyun felt somewhat dizzy as she followed him into the elevator. They each pressed their own floor.
As they approached Cheng Lang's floor, Shuangyun spoke: "I asked you a question last time. You didn't hear it clearly."
Cheng Lang turned his head to look at her. "What?"
Shuangyun felt she might have a fever. Her cheeks were slightly warm.
She looked up at Cheng Lang and said, "Does our company allow office romances?"
Shuangyun leaned against one side of the elevator. Her voice wasn't as clear and strong as usual now, more like some kind of melted liquid, entangling attention and pulling it down.
Cheng Lang said, "No."
The elevator chimed.
Tenth floor arrived.
Cheng Lang's steps hesitated for a moment, but he still said, "I'm leaving first."
But just as he was about to step out of the elevator, Shuangyun let out a low cry: "Ah—lizard—"
Then took two steps forward and stood on tiptoe to hug Cheng Lang again.
Cheng Lang froze in place, but Shuangyun had already quickly released him.
She gently pushed Cheng Lang out of the elevator, and as the doors closed, raised her face to smile at him:
"Thank you for giving me a ride home today. Bye, Landon."
