Cheng Lang said, "If you wanted to give Ian your contact information, I don't think you'd need to wait until after class for him to chase you out."
Shuangyun looked at him. His expression when speaking was exactly the same as when lecturing, as if everything was a serious matter to him.
Giving her painkillers was. Helping her get rid of Ian's harassment was too.
"What should I do? I feel so despicable." Shuangyun's tone took on a hint of "self-blame." "I hit on you, but you're helping me get rid of people who hit on me."
"I'm not blaming you." Cheng Lang said. "Getting hit on in pubs is very common, and you also helped me. But at school, especially in my class, I still hope this kind of thing doesn't happen."
As he spoke, he also walked toward the parking lot.
Shuangyun naturally followed.
"Can you give me a ride?"
"Can I refuse?" Cheng Lang asked.
Shuangyun smiled. "No."
Shuangyun rarely stayed on campus this late, let alone at a school that wasn't hers. Not every place deep in the campus had streetlights. When walking into dim, narrow sections, Shuangyun stayed very close to Cheng Lang.
She wanted to say something. She usually had witty remarks ready, could say seductive things and easily win people over. Shuangyun's romances were always short. She judged people by first impressions. If she felt something, she'd go for it, passionately stick together for a while, then her interest would rapidly fade.
Shuangyun was hard to keep. Or rather, those men found it hard to keep her.
Quickly attracted to her, also quickly abandoned by her.
Like rough sand.
Shuangyun didn't even need to spend much effort to penetrate their hearts like water. But when the tide receded, not a single grain of sand could keep Shuangyun.
But Cheng Lang wasn't sand.
Shuangyun thought about this in the dim path.
They didn't speak, just walked forward side by side.
Shuangyun thought, Cheng Lang was kaolin with extremely fine particles. To penetrate him would require a drop of water's entire lifetime.
And she liked this kind of challenge.
Shuangyun's face couldn't help but show a smile. She quickened her pace to get closer to Cheng Lang, but in the next second suddenly let out a scream.
Cheng Lang quickly looked at her and caught Shuangyun as she dodged toward him.
"Lizard—!" Shuangyun shouted!
Cheng Lang saw a huge lizard on the ground quickly fleeing the scene.
"It was scared away by you." Cheng Lang said.
Shuangyun looked at him incredulously. "I was scared by it, okay?"
Cheng Lang said, "Really? I thought you wanted me to look at it."
"Landon?" Shuangyun called his name loudly.
Cheng Lang laughed.
The night temperature had dropped even lower. Shuangyun's body had long since cooled with the temperature, but at this moment she felt Cheng Lang's body warmth and the chest vibration from his low laugh.
She of course knew she should let go in panic like the male and female leads in TV dramas, but Shuangyun didn't.
She let go very slowly. Her arms slid down from his sides, also feeling the muscles on his arms. Her body left his chest, also leaving that solid, warm place.
The two returned to a separated state.
Shuangyun had been scared, but not as seriously as she'd acted. And this didn't prevent her from continuing to "demand an explanation": "If I just wanted you to look at it, would I have been so scared I hugged you?"
