Projection of Regrets

Shi Li lay in the darkness, adapting to Chen Du's body.
From five years ago, every inch of Chen Du was familiar to her. Graduation, postgraduate studies, work... those many oppressive and anxious nights, that had been one of the cheap and efficient ways to relieve stress.
Where hadn't she touched him?
But familiarity, and wearing someone's body now, were different.
Shi Li curiously touched Chen Du's chest, novel and strange.
So this was how his heartbeat and breathing felt, slower than hers, longer than hers. No wonder he could stay calm during arguments; his muscles and bones were firmer and straighter than hers, hard everywhere.
Shi Li played with it for a while, after all, "ex-girlfriend," she wasn't embarrassed to go too far, so she sat up and started thinking where to go out and play.
Away from the human world for five years, it felt a bit unfamiliar. The rules of the underworld and human world were completely different.
...Forget it, better to go out first.
Shi Li pushed herself up from bed, her legs dangling off the edge, discovering her feet were already touching the ground...
She fanned Chen Du's eyelashes, glanced at the long and strong legs under the pants, couldn't help but pinch them.
"Hiss——" It hurt quite a bit.
These legs were really long.
Shi Li was not tall, shorter than Chen Du by a head.
They used to often go to the library together when dating. Chen Du would be busy with programming projects and often forget her short legs, striding ahead, often realizing too late that someone was missing behind.
Then he'd frown and turn back, standing coldly waiting for her.
Shi Li wouldn't indulge him, walking slower on purpose, forcing him to wait, his frown deepening, her happier, corners of her mouth almost reaching her ears.
Later, she didn't know when it started, he got used to her "crawler" speed, no matter how she walked, he always walked half a step behind her lazily——
Shi Li shook her head.
Speaking of Chen Du, he was actually her first love, but looking back at this relationship, it seemed there were no romantic moments.
Flowers, candlelight dinners, dazzling fireworks... nothing.
There were only the daily routines of two poor college students in love: walking hurriedly, squeezing through crowded subways, scattering countless resumes like snowflakes, eating greasy heart-cooling fast food.
Bah, no wonder they broke up over an ordinary argument, how cliché.
Thinking of Neilin University... she hadn't been back to her alma mater in a long time, wondering how it was now.
Shi Li was in Neilin for four years, more nostalgic for Neilin than home.
Shi Li grabbed Chen Du's clothes from the sofa, closed her eyes in the dark to put them on, then "thump thump thump" walked over and turned on the living room light.
The reflective black TV screen reflected "her" current appearance. Shi Li's face stiffened, frozen in place. In the reflection, "Chen Du" bounced and stared back at her with two eyebrows, one high one low, eyes squinted, expression of confusion and curiosity she had never seen.
"Pfft——"
This scene was hilarious. Shi Li couldn't help laughing, even made a funny face and stuck out her tongue, then finally straightened her face, imitating Chen Du's walking, walking a few steps properly.
