Chapter 1

A Guide to Raising a Succubus

16px

Blurb 1:
A succubus-raising app suddenly appeared on Wen Xi’s phone—and nothing he did could uninstall it.
Out of curiosity, he tapped in.
The bold, in-your-face art style made his brows knit.
An adult game?
Blurb 2:
Wen Xi, who had never dated, dismissed the game—until he rolled a frail little succubus.
No horns yet, a stubby tail, dressed in rags, staring at him through the screen; when Wen Xi answered his greeting, his pupils turned into tiny hearts.
Wen Xi: Maybe it’s not that lewd after all.
He turned an adult game into a pet-raising sim, pouring money and energy into raising the little succubus.
Per the game’s premise, he had to help the succubus adapt to human society.
Following the guide, he sent the little succubus to study the human language.
The little succubus left at dawn and came home at dusk with his schoolbag, earnest and hardworking.
Then midterms came—and he brought back a test scored three out of one hundred and fifty.
Wen Xi’s vision went black; he nearly passed out. Done for—he’d raised an idiot.
The little succubus’s eyes swelled like poached eggs as he asked pitifully, “Polin, ydu natie se?”
Which meant: “Human, will you abandon me?”
Wen Xi: …
He’d committed to raising him—idiot and all.
Blurb 3:
When the little succubus reached maturity, he sent a bonding invitation; Wen Xi tapped agree without thinking.
That night, he dreamed of a man.
Exactly his type, shyly saying, “Hewwo, my human talk is weally good now—will you mawwy me?”
Wen Xi: ?
Reader notes:
1. Heavy use of private/author headcanon.
2. Mutual pampering; readers who are extreme about top/bottom roles, proceed with caution.
3. All “succubus language” is made up—written as the dreams come, don’t take it seriously.
4. Brain-off comfort read; the “raising the kid” portion is fairly long.

Wen Xi finished his last ranked match well past midnight.
The coffee on his desk had long been empty; he lifted the cup to his lips out of habit, then caught himself and set it back down.
The stream chat had exploded over the peak-rank showdown—danmaku and gift effects filled the screen.
【Holy crap, he matched with Qigui again.】
【Stream doesn’t talk—he just keeps invading Qigui’s jungle.】
【Came from Qigui’s stream—during draft, Qigui saw first pick lock in support Vine Maiden and thought it was a throw stack, got careless.】
【That one-for-three trade was so clutch.】
【Streamer god!! …Fan games—uh, carry viewers?】
【Qigui just got unlucky—his teammates were trash, no synergy.】
Qigui and Stream were arguably the two biggest male streamers on Youhu TV’s gaming channel.
Both were known for jungle, and their champion pools overlapped heavily—so fans constantly compared them.
They’d matched before; wins went back and forth. At this rank, skill gaps were small—most games came down to team coordination and draft.
Amid the heated discussion, Wen Xi pinched his tired brow and said, “That’s it for today—thanks for the support.”
【Streamer, turn off the voice changer, thanks—who are you trying to seduce at this hour?】
【I don’t even care about the game—I’m here for your voice. One more hour!】
【Why’ve you been ending so early lately?】
Wen Xi skimmed the chat, glanced at the mutt at his feet, and answered the important ones: “Walking the dog.”
【I miss when you streamed all night so I could sleep-listen.】
Wen Xi said evenly, “I’m getting old—I can’t pull all-nighters anymore.”
The chat flooded: 【Please stop elder abuse.】
Even the gifts turned into thermoses.
Fans kindly reminded him: 【Protect your throat—drink more hot water.】
After ending the stream, Wen Xi removed his headset and stood. The listless yellow dog immediately got up, stretched, and followed at his heels.
November in City A was always drizzly. Wen Xi changed into a black windbreaker, put a clear raincoat on the dog Fuzai, and took him out.
He’d picked Fuzai up last month outside a barbecue stall.
That night the pup had been scavenging bones under customers’ feet when a drunk kicked him flying—right to Wen Xi’s feet as he was choosing skewers.
Wen Xi hadn’t liked keeping pets, but the little dog was pitiful, curled at his feet whimpering, unable to get up; when those round black eyes looked up at him, tears fell and dampened the fur around them.
He couldn’t harden his heart. After less than twenty seconds’ hesitation, he scooped him up and took him to the vet.
Fuzai wasn’t a fancy breed and wasn’t much to look at—but he was uncannily human in behavior, giving Wen Xi’s dull routine a new kind of fun.
Like—walking him twice a day without fail, trailing behind to bag his poop.
Man and dog drifted like ghosts around the neighborhood for nearly twenty minutes; today’s walk was done.
Back home, he wiped Fuzai’s paws, tossed his phone on the nightstand to charge, and went to shower.
When he came out towel-drying his hair, Fuzai was crouched by the cabinet, head tilted, staring at his phone and growling softly.
“What’s wrong?” Wen Xi draped the towel around his neck and picked up the phone. “A call?”
Usually if the phone buzzed and he didn’t hear, Fuzai barked to alert him.
Wen Xi unlocked the screen lazily—no missed calls, no new messages. He was about to back out when a pink icon caught his eye.
In the little square, irregular overlapping hearts with wings stretching from both ends; below, white text: 【City of Succubi】.
City of what? Where had that come from?
The name alone killed any interest.
He looked down at Fuzai and joked, “You download this?”
Fuzai: “Arf?”
Wen Xi chuckled twice and figured he’d tapped it by accident during a bulk install—nothing more. He long-pressed to uninstall.
Ding—
【Unknown error: This app cannot be uninstalled.】
After the third pop-up, curiosity won. He’d see what kind of rogue thing this was.
Leaning against the headboard, he tapped the pink square and launched the game.
The screen went black briefly; then an abstract deep-purple castle appeared, bats wheeling overhead, wings flapping with a whoosh.
The backdrop was night; in the upper left, an orange-red crescent moon. A black silhouette with twisted horns sat astride the crescent, legs crossed, a heart-tipped tail peeking from behind, huge wings folded slightly, hands folded at the chest in a heart.
Six small words appeared below: 【Are you ready?】
So cringe, Wen Xi thought—like some low-IQ mobile game from years ago.
His finger slid over the 【Ready】 button; seconds later, a long user agreement appeared.
“This agreement is entered into between you and the City of Succubi and is magically binding; please read carefully…”
Rambling. He couldn’t be bothered.
Wen Xi skipped through and tapped 【I have read】【Confirm】【Enter the demon city】.
After that, the loading bar filled; the scene switched to an empty path.
The camera moved forward until it stopped at a golden iron gate.
Text flashed in the center: 【This is a world where humans and succubi coexist. Every succubus needs a human bound to them to help them join human society and start a new life. Congratulations—you are one of our carefully chosen partners. Join us now~】
No registration, no anti-addiction timer, weird art—had some studio shipped a half-finished build? A beta?
While Wen Xi wondered, the golden gates slowly opened.
A blinding flash; the view jumped to a bedroom.
A pink canopy bed stood in the middle, lace sheets pooling on lavender floor; on the off-white wool rug lay a small whip, a cylindrical toy, and an opened square packet.
Wen Xi hadn’t noticed the details—he was still guessing whether this was roleplay or a card game—until a sultry voice rang out—
“Ha~”
“Saixi~Weilin moed ~Id mer Fenrir.”
Without warning, a man in a black corset and glossy purple leather pants popped in from the right.
Metal rings linked the corset hem to his belt; his flat, defined abs were fully on display; in the center of his lower abdomen, a pink tattoo matched the app icon.
Wen Xi realized—that must be the so-called succubus mark.
A pink speech bubble appeared by the man’s head, translating: [Ha~Master, welcome to the City of Succubi~I am Fenrir.]
The NPC’s revealing outfit and suggestive greeting made it clear: this was no wholesome game.
